Under 12 Football Spring League.
Had another great win against Doohamlet on Saturday evening meaning the lads had three wins out of three in the Spring League and they now move on to the final. Well done lads a great start to the year.
U-14’s
Play Clontibret this Saturday at 2pm in Clontibret. These lads have played some great football in their 2 wins to date so hopefully they can continue this on Saturday. Best of luck lads.
U-16’s
These lads have now three wins on the bounce as they took the scalp of Sean McDermotts on Thursday last on a scoreline of 7-9 to 3-9. Next up for these lads is a trip to Castleblaney on Thursday nigh with a throw in of 7.15.
Minors
Lost out to narrowly on Tuesday last to Monaghan Harps and played Emyvale on Tuesday. Hopefully the lads can get their first win of the season. The lads also play Latton on Tuesday next the 25th of April.
Referees Needed
The club is asking anyone who would have an interest in refereeing games this year to please contact club Chairman John Holland. Our games are not possible without referees and Monaghan GAA is currently very short on volunteers.
Reserve Championship
Play Aghabog in the Preliminary round of the Crawley Cup on Saturday at 6.30pm in Aghabog. Hopefully the lads will be able to progress to the next round.
Seniors
All in all it was a good week for the seniors as we won three games from three. After our opening win against Aghabog last weekend victories over Killevan on Wednesday night and Drumhowan on Sunday mean that we sit top of the Junior League. The lads played a lot of good ball over the week and with improvement will hopefully rise to stiffer examinations over the course of the year. The next fixture penciled in for the Seniors is a trip Oram on the 29th of April.
Condolences
The club would like to extend its sympathies to the McDonald family on the passing of Vincent McDonald on Tuesday after a brief illness. Vincent will be sorely missed by all the McDonalds, his wife Teenie, children Siun, Eabha, Lonan Malchi and anyone who had the distinct pleasure of knowing him. Vincent and indeed all the McDonalds have made a massive contribution to our club over the years. Vincent scored the crucial goal in the 1977 U-12 Division 1 final against Castleblaney. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam.
