Emmets Under Eighteen! Emmets led in this minor football match after two minutes but Killanny replied with two points to edge ahead. Next up was a splendidly worked goal for Carrickmacross when Thaig Callaghan cut through to hit a rising shot to the roof of the net. The Geraldines emerged with four more points to lead by 1-06 to 1-01. Killian Gartland stopped the rot with a fine point from play but Killanny added two more points before the short whistle to leave the score 1-10 to 1-03. Three wides apiece wasn’t a great start to the second half and the Emmets had a goal oppurtunity cleared. Emmets Under-Sixteen!
After three winning three 45s in a row; Daire Povall paved the way for his team mates when he pointed from play for the opening score; soon it was rush hour as the Emmets scored four-points on the trot. Cian Maher hit an excellent point which was Emmet’s tenth point of the game but the eleventh point was even better from Jack McGeown just before half time. Magheracloone did cause some problems going forward and had some goal chances. Half Time: Emmets 2-11 Mitchells 0-02: Playing with the wind Magheracloone made it three points after the break but as the light faded so did the game. Towards the end Conor Capaldi broke through and fisted a point and the scoring concluded with two further minors from Donnach Swinburne, Emmets won by 2-17 to 0-05: While it was a forwards night we can’t forget the defence; Darragh Maher did his business early on with a couple fine saves. McKenna, McCaul and Maguire were outstanding at the back while Eton O’Gorman; Jack McGeown; Niall Keenan were industrious to say the least. The Emmets Reserves! The team played their third match in the league on Saturday evening seeking to maintain their unbeaten run. Rockcorry were the visitors to Emmet Park which was gummy after some heavy showers. Emmets struck the first blow with a Sean Downey goal but Rockcorry hit back with a counter-punch goal and the sides were level. Ciaran Ward popped up with a nice point and so did Sean Downey to enhance Emmet’s good start. When John McMenamin anticipated a rebound; he slotted home a perfect strike low and hard. At half time it was Carrickmacross leading by 2-03 to 1-03. Three wide balls commenced Emmets second half; in fact scores became as scarce as spectators. Ryan Carolan hit a pair of points and Sean Downey kicked another from play which completed the home totality. The Emmets endurance survived the scare but they were always able to break from any real danger. Emmets Juveniles! In the under twelve Spring League (Zone A) the Emmets had a convincing win over Donaghmoyne in Donaghmoyne on Saturday by 0-21 to 0-04. However; in the earlier game the Fontanoys reversed the result when they ran out winners (Zone B) by 0-13 to 0-06. In the under fourteen league (Division One) the Emmets had a fine victory over Monaghan Harps by 2-14 to 2-06. It was the first of two games played at the Monaghan venue. In the other encounter (Division Five) it was the home side that claimed the points by 3-06 to 2-03.

Emmets Fixtures!  Tonight (Thursday) the Emmets host Doohamlet in the second round of the under sixteen (Division Three) league at 6-45pm. On this Friday night the under-sixteen division one team are at home in Emmet Park at 6-45pm against St Patricks. On Saturday the under-fourteen side travel to Cremartin for a division one match against Cremartin at 2-00 pm while the division five team have a bye. On Wednesday evening next the Intermediate team will oppose Doohamlet in Emmet Park at 7-00pm in their second game in the league.

Emmets Lotto!  The club lotto draw took place this Monday night in the Emmet Centre for a Jackpot of €10,200. The numbers drawn were; 10, 19, 21, 24 there were no matching numbers so this week’s jackpot is €10,300. There are three ways of doing the lotto (a) buy weekly (b) subscribe yearly (c) or play on-line via the Emmets website: First out of the “lucky dip” for a €50 “Keep it Local” voucher; was Gerry/Mary Duffy Rihanna Hand won a €20 voucher as did Kevin Lynch; The final €10 voucher went to David Ryan!
