Ballybay Pearse Bros Notes
Senior Football League Division 1 Round 3 Ballybay 0:10 Truagh 0:10
Accurate free-taking from Ballybay helped to scrape a draw in this senior league encounter. It took the Pearse Brothers time to get into the game with early sloppy play leaving them two points in arrears. However, Colm Lennon was proving a thorn in Truagh’s side with some direct running unsettling the visiting team’s backline. A wonderful score from the right hand sidelines by Paul Finlay just before half-time left the game in the balance and all to play for. Shane Mc Quillan converted a beatiful flowing move early in the second half that left Ballybay down by two points. Another well taken free kick from Paul Finlay left the home side one point down at 0:08 to 0:09 with 5 minutes left in game. The match was level for the first time 3 minutes later and remained that way in the end, despite Hugh Malone having a late half chance to nick the game from the visitors. Despite only picking up the draw Ballybay should be happier with the result as it was a game in which the home side were never ahead throughout.
