Over the past few weeks Monaghan Coaching & Games Development staff have been busy delivering a number initiatives throughout the county. These initiatives range from Foundation courses, TY Secondary School Courses, Indoor Club/Schools games programme for Football and Club Development work.
Foundation Course
On Saturday past Development Officer Colin Malone delivered a Foundation Coures in Doohamlet GFC. In total there was 22 coaches that took part from 10 different clubs. Well done to all involved and to Doohamlet GFC for hosting the course and providing excellent facilities.

Indoor Primary Schools Games Programme
Development Officer Rory Beggan has delivered a number of indoor “Fun Fives” blitzes over the past few days. These blitzes cater for boys and girls Primary School 1st class students. They were delivered over two days in Phoenix Centre Carrick and St Macartans College, a total of 24 Schools took part with 250 children participating over the two days. The Schools that took part were:
Urbleshanny, Gransha, Gaelscoil Ultain, Scoil Mhuire Latton, Scoil Mhuire Rockcorry, Oram, Drumgossatt, Mullaghrafferty, Blackstaff, Ballynagearn, Convent Junior School, Killeevan, Rackwallace, Tydavnet, Latnamard, Knockconan, Ballybay, Lisdoonan, Gaelscoil Lorgan, Scoil Rois, Loughmourne, Annyalla, Corduff & Doohamlet.
Monaghan Coaching & Games Develoment would like to thank the Transition year students from Inver College Carrick and St Macartans College Carrick for refereeing over the two days. In addition to this we would also like to thank the teachers/helpers for assisting their school and attending the blitz. The Fun Fives would not happen without your support & help.
Club Indoor Football Programme is ongoing at the minute, we recently completed U12 indoor blitzes in February. U10’s are in operation at the minute in 3 venues throughout the county. They are Phoenix Centre Carrick, Ballybay Community Centre, Colaiste Oiriall Monaghan. Once this age group is completed we have a number of blitzes planned fot the U8’s in Phoenix Centre Carrick. Transition Year Foundation Courses
From the beginning of the school year, our Coaching Staff has been delivering Foundation courses to Tranistion Year students throughout the county. Over the past week Largy Collge Clones & St Macartans College have undertaken this programme with their students. Please see photos below;
Club Development Programme
Monaghan Coaching & Games Development staff have been assisting clubs devise a Development Plan for the coming year. This initiative has been rolled out since late January. The following football clubs have taken part in the initiative to date; Clones, Cremartin, Monaghan Harps, Killeevan, Scotstown, Ballybay, Drumhowan, Blackhill, Oram, Castleblayney Faughs, Corduff, Magheracloone, & Doohamlet. Hurling Clubs are; Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Clontibret, Truagh & Monaghan Harps.
