Allianz National Football League Division One
Tyrone 0-14 Monaghan 0-10 4/3/17
Monaghan’s unbeaten run in the NFL Division One ended despite a spirited second-half performance against Tyrone in Omagh on Saturday night. A disappointing first half saw Monaghan change ends trailing by 0-9 to 0-2 and it went from bad to worse when Fintan Kelly and Dermot Malone were both sent off within five minutes of the restart. A determined effort by Monaghan’s 13 men saw them outscore the hosts in the remaining half an hour, with Jack McCarron, Conor McManus, Kieran Hughes and Rory Beggan on target, but three points from substitute Seán Cavanagh saw Tyrone make it three games without defeat and join fellow Ulster sides Monaghan and Donegal on five points, just behind leaders Dublin.
