Corduff Club Notes

Club Lotto:

This week’s Club Lotto draw took place in Boylan’s Carrickmacross on Sunday night last. There was no winner of our Jackpot of €8,700. The numbers drawn were: 03, 09, 15 & 19. The five €20 winners of our Lucky Dip draw were: F, T & J Tumelty, Anthony Marron, Seamus Dermody, Darren McConnell & Tony Rooney.

Next week’s draw will take place in The Mountain Dew, Corduff where the jackpot will rise to €8,800.

Membership:

This is the club’s final call for membership, as the closing date is fast approaching on the 31st March 2017 Memberships taken after this date will not be deemed eligible for the 2017 year.

The club re-launched the Lotto at the beginning of February, and to date, there has been no winner of the Jackpot, which rolls over each week and is now at €8,700 for next weekend’s draw.

The club have some great membership packages of offer to members which guarantee entry into each Club Lotto draw over the coming 12 months, as well as entry into Club draws for All-Ireland tickets & entry into each and every Corduff home league game for 2017 (excluding semi-finals).

Intermediate Team:

The first game of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League takes place on Saturday 8th April in Doohamlet at 6:30pm.

Reserve Team:

The Reserve side continued their League campaign on Friday night last with a 2-17 to 1-06 win over Killeevan in Corduff. The next outing is Saturday evening (1st April) away to Truagh with throw-in at 6:00pm.

Minor Team:

The Minor team commenced their Connolly Meats Minor Football League Division 1 campaign under the Donaghduff Gaels banner on Tuesday evening away to Inniskeen & suffered a 3-16 to 1-09 defeat.

Next week, they host the St. Patrick’s amalgamation of Ballybay & Drumhowan in Corduff on Tuesday evening (4th April), with throw-in at 6:30pm.

Inter-County Teams:

Monaghan travelled to Donegal on Sunday last and came away with a point after they drew 1-11 each to leave them sitting in a third ahead of the final round of games. They host the All-Ireland champions this Sunday as Dublin come to Clones in the last game of the Allianz National Football League Division 1. As always with the Dubs, a big crowd is expected, so make sure you get your tickets early, by purchasing in Centra & SuperValu stores nationwide and save 20% on the price of your tickets. With all to play for, this is definitely a game you do not want to miss. If you cannot make the journey to Clones, the game will be broadcast live on TG4, with throw-in at 3:00pm.

Monaghan’s hurlers played Tyrone in Cloghan on Sunday last hoping to secure a place in the NHL Division 3 final. It wasn’t to be however, as they fell to a 3-15 to 1-14 defeat. They will play Derry in the Ulster GAA Senior Shield Semi-Final on the 8th of April.

Monaghan’s Minor &Under 17 teams hosted Armagh in Round 2 of their respective Ulster Leagues, winning both games. Sean Burns & Fionn O’Callaghan played a part in the Minor victory. They play Cavan in Kingspan Breffni Park, Cavan on Saturday next with throw-in for both games at 12pm & 1:30pm respectively.

Condolences:

The club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Farrelly family, Lisdrumturk on the recent passing of Kathleen. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Ladies

Fixtures:

The U14’s competed in their first competitive match of the season on Tuesday evening away to Aghabog. Report in next week’s edition.

Juveniles:

Training for U6’s to U12’s commenced last Saturday morning in glorious sunshine and will continue this Saturday from 10am.

And, what a turnout, 40 young girls having lots of fun while practicing GAA skills. Thanks to all our coaches.

There will be an opportunity to pay membership again this week and new members always welcome so if you weren’t there last Saturday come this week!

County News:

Congratulations to Georgia Smyth and the Monaghan U14 team on their victory over Derry in the Ulster Championship. Commiserations to Laura, Eva and the Monaghan Senior county panel on their narrow defeat to Donegal last Sunday in Termon.

Fundraising:

Corduff Ladies are holding a Church Gate Collection this Sunday morning before 11am Mass in Raferagh. Please give generously as all monies collected go directly to the development of the ladies club.

As always your ongoing support is gratefully accepted.

Handball

GAA League:

Congratulations to our GAA League team who won the GAA League last Wednesday night, by beating Carrickmacross in a close-fought final. This was always going to be a close encounter, and it proved so, with the match itself ending in a 4-4 draw, but Corduff winning out on aces on an aggregate scoreline of 94-81. The team on the night was Gareth King, Shane McNally, Brendan McNally & George McKitterick. Well done to all involved.

Corduff Singles League:

The Final of our competition will take place over this weekend coming with The Steelers facing The Eagles. Keep an eye on the Corduff Handball Club page for details of games.

The presentation to the winning team will take place in The Mountain Dew on Saturday night at 9:00pm.
