Hard Luck
To James Mealiff and Declan McKernan and the Monaghan U-21’s who lost out last Wednesday evening to a strong Derry side in the quarter final of the U-21 championship. The lads put in a great effort but unfortunately it was not enough to progress to the next round.
Congratulations
To Fintan Kelly, James Mealiff and the Monaghan Seniors on a great win over Roscommon in Inniskeen on Saturday last. This leaves Monaghan firmly in contention for a top 2 spot in the league so hopefully they can get a win as they take on Donegal this weekend in Ballyshannon.
Development Officer wanted.
The club is currently looking for a development officer. If you or anyone you know wants to become involved please let our Chairman John Holland know. We are always looking for volunteers to help with the running of the club and this is a perfect opportunity to help make positive changes for the benefit of everyone in our club.
Minors
Training continues on Tuesday nights at 7pm .They hope to play Scotstown on Sunday in a challenge. Like the U-16’s last year Clones are joined with Kileevan this year and will play under the Tiarnach Sarsfields banner. Best of luck to the lads for the coming year.
Congratulations
To James Mealiff and Fintan Kelly on another remarkable win in Killarney last week. Monaghan have went down to their back yard and beat them twice in the last number of years which is something not many teams can say. Well done to the lads and best of luck this coming weekend as they face Tyrone in Omagh.
Last Man Standing
Well done to Dean O’Connor who took the title of Last Man Standing for the second year in a row. The club will hopefully be running another competition for the Championship so keep an eye out for it.
Under 12 Football Spring League.
The Under 12’s got their season off to a flyer on Saturday against Killeevan in Killevan. This was a great team effort from all the lads. Their next game is in 2 weeks at home to Drumhowan. Congrats to Diarmuid McElvaney on being appointed Captain and Shane Freeman Vice Captain for the year.
U-14’s
Take on Latton in Clones this Saturday at 2pm. They had a great win in their first game so hopefully they can build this weekend. Best of Luck lads.
Junior B’s
Take on Eire Og in Clones this Saturday at 5pm. Let’s hope the lads can get their first win of the year. Please support the lads.
Referees Needed
The club is asking anyone who would have an interest in refereeing games this year to please contact club Chairman John Holland. Our games are not possible without referees and Monaghan GAA is currently very short on volunteers.
