ROCKCORRY G.A.A.

CLUB NOTES

16th February 2017

Breakfast morning – Thank You.

Ok so the fare on display in St Marys park Castleblayney in the Division 1 derby may have been hard to stomach, but it certainly wasn’t the case with the Breakfast morning in St Marys hall Rockcorry as gaels from near and far called in for the full Irish before heading onto the big game. The club would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who supported our Breakfast morning, those that sponsored food and other items that were required, those that set up the hall, carried out the cooking and washing duties as well as keeping the tables cleared and of course those that called in and availed of the fare on offer. THANK YOU.

TOP 4 LOTTO

The jackpot now stands at €11,100 after Monday nights draw was made. The numbers out were 11-13-25-28. Weekly winners of €15 were Colin & Selina Reilly Perth, Peter Mc Guirk Ballybay, Barry McGough Rockcorry, Martin McGorman Rockcorry, Colin & Selina Reilly Perth, Noel Calvert Rockcorry, Tracey & Mia Rooney Rockcorry, Ben & Bernie Duffy Rockcorry.

Next weeks draw will take place in Thompsons Newbliss

National Football League

As mentioned earlier the fare in Castleblayney on Sunday may not have been of the highest order, and a draw was perhaps the fairest result as it ensures we can remain friends with our neighbours in Cootehill for another few months. It seemed as if the tension of the fixture and from the massive support had perhaps made its way onto the field and had an effect on the players. No doubt both camps will have learned lots from the game and will be ready for their next outings in the league on February 26th. For Monaghan it’s a trip to Killarney to take on Kerry while Cavan will travel to Omagh to take on Tyrone. Also well done to the Castleblayney club on hosting the game and massive crowd at their very impressive grounds, a lot of talk had surrounded the fixture in regards to it been held at the mid Monaghan venue but in typical Faughs fashion the challenge was accepted and carried out.

National Hurling League

Well done to the Monaghan hurlers who got their campaign in Division 3A of the hurling league underway with a win over Tyrone in Omagh on Sunday. Next up for the Farney side is the arrival of Donegal to Castleblayney this Sunday the 19th.

Ladies National football league.

The Monaghan ladies also return to action this weekend with their 3rd outing in Division 1 when they welcome Galway. It is great to see a number of players who have strong links to the local area are part of the county panel and we wish them the best of luck.

Committee positions..

Just an update on our committee positions, Mark Daly has been appointed as vice chairman of the club while Mark McCormick has joined the senior team management. Thanks firstly to them both for taking the positions and we wish them the best of luck for the coming year.

Don’t forget if you feel like you would like to get involved with the committee for the coming year, just let us know.

It is great to see quite a number of new committee members stepping up and mixing that with the experience already there and that should make for an enjoyable and productive 2017. The more people who get involved the better for our club #Comeonrock
