Under-21 Shamrock Cup Final

Monaghan 2-15 Derry 2-9

Monaghan won the Shamrock Cup for the first time since 2013 in an entertaining final against Derry in Cremartin on Sunday. The outstanding James Wilson hit 1-9 in the first half to hand Monaghan a 1-9 to 1-5 lead and with Francis Maguire also finding the net, Ciarán McBride’s charges stayed ahead through to the end. Derry got a goal back through substitute Cormac Quigley, but their attempt to rally was thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping by Shane Garland.
