SHAMROCK CUP.
Monaghan 1-13, Armagh 1-7.
Monaghan fielded probably their strongest team so far in this year’s Shamrock Cup tournament and in so doing proved too potent for Armagh in this lively contest that was played in blustery and somewhat chilly conditions in Cloghan on Wednesday evening last. Monaghan got off to a great start and dominated almost the entire 1st half with 9 points on the board after 25 minutes and Armagh yet to score. Monaghan led at half-time by 0-10 to 0-1 and while Armagh fared a little better in the 2nd half and Monaghan down to 14 players 2 minutes after the resumption with the dismissal of Barry Kerr, the Orchard lads still lacked the firepower to close the gap.
