Gala Dinner Dance
We had a very successful celebration night on Saturday last and the fact that we were able to host it in the well presented Riverbank in the heart of Killanny made it all the more memorable. Well done Locky. Secretary Michael Crawley was master of ceremonies and what a job he done. He gave a special mention to team manager Andy Callan who did marvellous work with the players and brought them from junior to senior in two years.Take a bow Andy. We were very honoured to have the newly elected County Board Chairman Michael McMahon who was full of praise for all the hard work and commitment that all the players, officials and committee members give to their club, county and college teams. Michael went on to present the Hackett Cup medals to our senior team captained by stalwart Ronan Duffy, reserve team captained by the ever jovial Cillian Leegan and the 1979 junior double winning team captained by John Byrne and proudly assisted by Harry Boylan, Anthony Boylan, Denis Grimes, Dermot McGlew, Dermot Boylan, Johnny Callan, Finbarr Boylan, Liam Thornton, Tom Daly, Kevin Boylan, Francie Thornton, Peter Finnegan, John Beirne, Pat Traynor, Michéal Quinn, John Conlon, Michael Cunningham, Paddy Quinn, Johnny Quinn, Tommy O’Brien and Dessie O’Rourke. Also on the team but sadly deceased Francie McMahon and Dickie Kellett. Management the late John Gartlan, the late Michael Kellett and Patsy Ward, Trainer Vincent Lee.
Cathaorleach Johnny Quinn presented Bean MacMahuna agus Bean Ni Shebhlean with a bouquet of flowers.
Player of the year
Comhghairdeas to Ronan Duffy who received the senior player of the year award for his heroics on the pitch keeping most full forwards scoreless and also to Kevin Quinn who was awarded with the reserve played of the year
Hall of Fame
John Hand and Tom Shevlin were inducted into the Hall of Fame last Saturday night at our Celebration Night . Both men played their part with the Geraldines down through the years and are still great followers and sponsors of the club. After a cupla focail from two very proud gentlemen it was on with the celebrations and we had just written ourselves into the history books. .
Shamrock Cup
Congratulations to Robert Berg on his performance with the Monaghan Under 21 team in the final of the Shamrock Cup played in Cremartin on Sunday last beating Derry by 2g 15p to 2g 9p. Well done Rob.
Trench Cup
Well done to Eddie Markey who was involved with the DKIT team that won the Trench Cup last weekend in Mayo.
Ladies
The ladies training has started back training and newly elected chairman Peter Finnegan is urging all the players to come out to train and also stated that new members are very welcome.
