The Club Lotto! The club lotto draw took place on Monday night in the Emmet Centre for a Jackpot of €9,400. The numbers drawn were 04, 21, 23 and 28; there were no matching numbers. The “lucky dip” provided Francie Finnegan with €50 “Keep it Local” voucher while the McMenamin family can share a €20 voucher; Mr B Duffy was also pulled out for a €20 voucher while Seamus Tierney is €10 to the good! Next week’s jackpot is €9500. Thanks to our lotto co-ordinator Adrian McCloskey who will direct the rota for the coming year and who had his team out on Saturday night last! There are three ways of doing the lotto (a) buy weekly (b) subscribe yearly (c) or play on-line via the Emmets website: Whichever way you play; there is no better means of assisting the club to maintain a high standard of playing facilities and supporting our juvenile structures while providing games and coaching. Join up now!

Juvenile Registration Night! Who will be the next “All Stars” of the future; maybe some of new young Emmets will become GAA legends in time to come. The recent registration night was a big success in the Emmet Centre.  Players of school going age from under-six to under-sixteen attended on the night along with their parents/guardians and we hope they have lots of fun and games during their spell with the Emmets. All the juvenile cups won in 2016 were on display. Light refreshments were served in the course of the evening. Finally a big thank-you to all the parents who have supported the Emmets last year and we look forward to further success in 2017.

Proposed Fixtures! Intermediate Football League (First Round) Saturday 08th April (Second Round) Wednesday 12th April (Third Round) Saturday 15th April (Fourth Round) Saturday 29th April. The final round of the competition is scheduled for Sunday 22nd October:  Four “star games” are proposed for rounds 7, 8, 9 and 10. In the “Reserve Football League” the Emmets are grouped with five North Monaghan clubs in Rockcorry, Clones, Aghabog, Eire Og and Monaghan Harps. It is a double league with ten matches to play. Top team goes into the final with the 2nd and 3rd teams in a semi-final. Reserve leagues are intended to commence on weekend of March 12th. The Minor Football format for Division 1 in the coming year is; Truagh, Scotstown, Aughnamullen, Carrickmacross, Inniskeen, Donaghduff Gaels (Donaghmoyne/Corduff) Monaghan Harps and Magheracloone: This is a single league with seven games after which they are divided into Cup and Shield; which will mean another three games before the final is played. The first round is planned for Tuesday 4th April!

One Hundred Years! All roads lead to Carrickmacross on Sunday when two great matches will be played. In hurling a Carrickmacross selection tackle a Dundalk selection while in football the famous Drogheda Tredaghs antagonise Carrickmacross Emmets. As the Emmets are reorganised and in great form the game promises to be the tit-bit of the season. The locals are to be congratulated on securing the old football grounds which have been improved at considerable expense; the pitch being paled in. It is now known as Gaelic Park and it is to be hoped the efforts of the promotors will be rewarded with a bumper gate. The committee desire to express regret for past disappointments but the Gaels of Farney and elsewhere will be compensated tomorrow. The admission fee is very moderate at 3d for two matches.
