ROCKCORRY G.A.A.
CLUB NOTES
05th January 2017
Happy New Year
We take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy New year and look forward in a positive mood to what 2017 has in store, while the year past may not have been our most successful on the field, we can still take alot of positives into the New Year as our underage teams were certainly competitive with success at U12 level and the U14s contested the championship final. Our U16s and minors endured a difficult 12 months but while results may not have been in their favour, the players and management were still available to fulfill fixtures and wear the Rockcorry jersey. That pride at times is worth more that any result. Speaking of pride it was something special to see our senior team represent their club, parish and county on the All Ireland semi final stage at the start of the year and again while that result did not go our way, it was still an incredibly proud moment to have it to say your club contested an All Ireland semi final. Unfortunately we had one of those strange years, where one Sunday we were contesting an historic first ever Intermediate championship final only to loose by a point (I know we don’t need reminding) and then the following Sunday suffered the drop to Junior football without even having to kick one.. But that is all in the past, the future beckons a whole new challenge is on the horizon… So bring it on 2017, we once again await the trials, tribulations, heartbreak, disappointments but more importantly, the joy, ecstasy and pride that comes with supporting your club at every level #ComeonRock
Dr Mc Kenna Cup
With the start of the new year, it is great to be looking forward to the action returning to the field of play with the 1st round games of the Dr Mc Kenna cup this Sunday the 8th of January and we take this opportunity to wish Malachy O Rourke and his team the very best of luck in their opening game against Fermanagh in Clones. It is also a great sense of pride for the club to have a number of our senior players involved with the panel and we extended best wishes to Niall Mc Keown and Fergal Mc Geough who we know will wear the Monaghan jersey once again with pride.
