Bank of Ireland Dr. McKenna Cup Semi-Final
Derry 2-12 Monaghan 1-13
Monaghan exited the Dr. McKenna Cup with a semi-final defeat against Derry in Armagh on Sunday. Derry led by 0-6 to 0-4 at half-time, before a brighter second half saw both teams improve their attacking play. A goal by substitute Conor McCarthy put Monaghan ahead on 51 minutes, but Derry found the net twice in the final quarter through Emmet McGuckin and James Kielt to claim a two-point win and a crack at Tyrone next Saturday. Next up for Monaghan is the start of their Allianz National Football League Division One campaign away to Mayo on Saturday week, February 4.
