Babtha Cheannais Scór na nÓg Uladh i Ionad CLG an Phiarsaigh, Gallbhuaile ,Co Tír Eoghain
The final of the Ulster Scór na nÓg competition took place in Galbally, Co. Tyrone on Saturday January 14th .
Representing Drumhowan and Monaghan in the Rince Seit was Niall O Ghruagáin, Sinéad Ní Dufaigh, Lorna Nic Oirc, Aodhan Ó Braonaín, Rebecca Ni Bhraonaín, Mark Ó Tiomhnaigh, Áine Máire Ní Mhaol Fábhail agus Sean Bhreathnach. This group of young dancers came a very close second to a very experienced Glenullion team from Derry.
Drumhowan also represented Monaghan in the Ceol Uirlise competition – the music group comprised of Cáit Ní Bhraonáin, Dónall Ó Tiomhnaigh, Orlaith Ní Bhraonaín Mark Ó Tiomhnaigh agus Aodhán Ó Braonáin. Drumhowan’s five Ulster titles in row was no to be….unfortunately they too came second as the Tyrone champions Donaghmore were declared Ulster champions.
In the Léiriú competition Monaghan was represented by the drama group from CLG Gaeil Triúcha – Clodagh & Tara Ní Giolla Mhicil, Karl Mac Ghiolla Mhichíl, Aoife Ní Thiarnaigh, Aoibheann Ní Threinfhir, Criostoir Mac Giolla Fhaille, Cillian & Fionn Mac Suibhne. They put on a fantastic performance with their play being thoroughly enjoyed by the huge audience and they just came up short against last year’s all Ireland Champions from Cullyhanna.
Despite not bringing home any Ulster titles all the young people from Monaghan can feel justly proud of their great performances in front of a huge audience of nearly 700 people. It was a great night for all involved in Scór across Ulster.
