Week of the 18th Dec

Santas Visit

We should start this week’s notes talking about the huge success that was Santa’s visit. Hundreds of our kids took part in the parade from the Village Christmas Tree to Complex. A big thank you to Monaghan Brass Band, who in beautiful winter sun paraded from the village to the pitch. Santa arrived at 3.30pm in transportation sponsored for the day by Colum Gormley (some cross border cooperation on that one) Santas grotto was something to behold and another big thank you must go to the members of the Scotstown Foroige and the other lads and lassies that looked after the kids to 6.30pm. Feedback and comments have been wonderful. Thanks to the senior men and senior ladies that helped over the days it took to put all together, but the biggest thanks must go to Pauline, Trevor, Ciaran, Ben, Evelyn, Aidan and of course Niamh for her creative input. This group has worked long and hard and have hopefully set the foundations for an event that will run annually taking back fond memories from my own distant childhood.

Senior management

This week sees the appointment of our senior manager for the coming year. Kieran Donnelly will hold the the reigns and we wish him every success.

Comming up

Keep free Friday 30th

Keep Friday the 30th free for our annual Christmas party in the complex bar. This night is becoming a calendar event and is a great chance to look back over the year and warm up for the year a head.

Ciste

As the last Saturday of the month will be New Year’s Eve the December Ciste will be held  on the night of the Christmas party. It may be a good time of the year to think about who else you could sell a ticket too.. Maybe somebody home for the holidays? Annual ticket just €80

Mick Duffy Cup

The Mick Duffy Cup is heading out on tour again. He starts his tour in Connolly Pharmacy, the generous sponsors of the Clubs Junior team.

Child protection course

Thanks to all 28 who took the time out to attend the CPC courses that were held over the past week. It’s an effort to come out on a cold winter’s night but it’s all part of helping the club move forward. Another course will be held in February for those who hope to work with juvenile teams over the next year. Remember the course lasts you for 3 years. Contact Cormac on 087-6504979 for information on the next night.
