Corduff Club Notes

By Majella Boyd Wed 14th Dec

Minor Team:

The Corduff Minor Team’s journey for 2016 came to an end in a hard-fought battle at the Woodlands Sports Ground in Belfast last Sunday against Carrickmore on a 2-12 to 1-12 scoreline.

Corduff started brightly leading 2 points to 1, but were dealt a huge setback when Killian Hand saw red after a small shemozzle. This didn’t deter the lads and Corduff led at half-time, 1-04 to 1-03, with Sean Burns netting the goal from the penalty spot.

The second half started brightly for the Tyrone men, netting an early goal, but Corduff rallied and again Sean Burns and Fergal Hanratty were to the fore, and kept Corduff within touching distance, helped by a monstrous point from 45 metres from centre-back Colm Lowndes. In the end, Corduff were reduced to 13, following Lowndes’ second yellow, and the Carrickmore men ran out winners by 3 points.

We would like to say Thank You to all our supporters who made the journey to Belfast last weekend, and who supported this team all year. It has been a memorable journey for this group, one with great excitement and pleasure, and we hope to see many more successful campaigns in the coming years.
