Toome 3-13 Seán McDermotts 1-8

Toome won their first JFL title since 1958 and first adult A trophy since their Intermediate  Double in 1975 in impressive fashion against Seán McDermotts in last Sunday’s final at a sunny Gavan Duffy Park, Monaghan. Toome fell six points down early on, with a Danny McNally goal capping a confident start by the Seáns, but Jim McConville’s side worked their way back into contention by the end of the first half, before taking over in the second period, which they won by 2-7 to 0-1. The livewire James Wilson, Frank Connolly and Liam McCooey accounted for all of Toome’s scores, with Jason Murphy and Seán McMahon also playing key roles, as they secured a long-awaited return to the intermediate ranks.
