Monaghan GAA are looking to organise and host a Level 3 Diploma in GAA Sports Management course.
This programme is being delivered to coaches who have made the transition from coach to manager. It recognises that coaching and managing have significant similarities but it also recognises that they are different. The series of workshops will take the coach/manager through a programme that will help explore the critical managerial areas to help develop understanding, competencies and abilities to apply critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
This initiative is being organised by the Monaghan Football Development Committee and it will be the first time it will take place in Monaghan. Normally this course would take place in a central location in Ulster so with Monaghan hosting it, its a great opportunity for Monaghan coaches/ managers to complete the course locally with reduced travel to and from the course.
The course will take place over a minimum of 10 nights. Anyone who wants to complete the course must have a minimum of a GAA Level One Award already complete. The course is open to both football and hurling coaches/ managers but they must be working with a team at the time of the course to complete the award. There is coursework required for this course and certificates for completion will not be given until all coursework is complete and signed off.
It is envisaged that coaches who complete the award will in the future work with a Development Squad team in Monaghan but coaches who are heavily involved with their club will not be turned away.
The cost of attending the course is €125 per coach/manager. If you are interested in completing this course or have any questions in relation to the course you can contact Paul O’Connor on 086 837 4827 or email developmentmanager.monaghan@gaa.ie
