Donaghmoyne advanced to an Ulster Club Semi Final after a 3 point win over Down Champions Bredagh at  Páirc Esler, Newry.  Donaghmoyne were made fight all the way with a David Garland free in the 2nd min of injury time  bringing the game to extra time.  In the  end it was the first five minutes of the 2nd period of extra time that proved the difference with Donaghmoyne scoring  1-3 without reply.

Ronan Mc Donald opened the game’s scoring   with a point from a 45. However Alan Davidson opened Bredagh’s scoring 2 minutes later with a goal.  The first half continue to and fro with a Stephen Finnegan goal putting Donaghmoyne 2 points ahead in the closing stages but the ever dangerous Alan Davidson who scored  1-6 from play kicked the last two points of the half to leave both teams level  at 1-8 a piece when the half time whistle blew.

The second half started with a Donal Hughes point  30 seconds from the throw in.  Bredagh pulled further ahead with another Alan Davidson point – however 2 points from joint top scorer David Garland, one from open play and another from a free left things all square  as the game entered the final quarter of normal time.  In the 57th minute  another  Alan Davidson point  put Bredagh a point ahead and it seemed if they were going to hang on until a 62nd minute Donaghmoyne free was scored by David Garland. As soon as the ball was kicked out by Bredagh goal keeper  Jack Duffin the referee Martin Conroy  called for full time leaving the full time score Donaghmoyne  1-13 Bredagh 1-13

In a carbon copy of the second half start  Donal Hughes  kicked Bredagh ahead from the throw in in extra time. Niall Keenan levelled things again  but  Donal Hughes kicked his 3rd free and 7th point of the game  to leave Bredagh a point ahead at half time in extra time.

The game was turned on its head in a five minute spell  at the start of the second half of extra time. Donaghmoyne sub  Darren Mc Elroy who had only entered the fray in the closing minutes of the first half of extra time  scored a peach of a goal within 30 seconds of the throw in.  Points then followed from Frank Markey, David Garland and Ronan Mc Donald to put Donaghmoyne 5 ahead.  However Bredagh upped the anti with points coming from Alan Davidson  and Donal Hughes. Try as they may they couldn’t get the goal they needed and Donaghmoyne held on to win with the full time score Donaghmoyne 2-17  Bredagh 1-17.
