Seniors: There is no rest for our Senior squad this weather with the League and McElvaneys Waste Championship in full swing. Well done to the team and management yesterday on their Monaghan Electrical League win against Corduff. The half time score read 1-07 to Corduffs 0-04 thanks to Ryan (Gooch) McKennas 3 points Mickey McQuaids goal and 4 points from Shane Treanor. Corduff however came out in the second half with a surprising 7 consecutive points before Gary McQuaid leveled it with a point in the 12th minute. Things were not looking great at this stage with 3 further points from our opponents bringing the score to 1-08 to their 0-14. Ryan McKenna, Shane Treanor and Gary McQuaid* managed to score enough to have us come out on the winning side by a single point leaving the final score Tyholland 1-12 Corduff 0-14. Good work and plenty of energy too from the rest of the team. Keep it up lads!! Next match is CHAMPIONSHIP…… a very important game when we take on neighbours Emyvale next Saturday evening at 5.30 in Truagh. We need plenty of support for this one as it is local to both teams so please get the red and white out and cheer them on!!!
Gerrys Prepared Veg U14: Our 14s were very unlucky yesterday to come away from Carrick being defeated by Ballybay in the final by a single point. Despite Ballyaby starting off well with a goal in the first 2 minutes and two further points before Conor McEvoy blasted the ball in the net followed swiftly by another from Darragh Treanor the first half was level with 2-04 a piece. The tension during the second half of the match was incredible, the Tyholland supporters once again were encouraging the team on with their cheers and encouraging words. The defence of Ruairi Treanor, Ryan McNally, Malachy Treanor was fantastic and James Allen was nearly always on the accepting end of the kick outs. Gareth McGinnity and Killian McNally kept busy mid field while the scoring was done by Darragh Treanor, Dara McKenna*, Conor McEvoy*, and Dylan O’Reilly. However it must be said the the goal keeping skills demonstrated by Oran Hughes was outstanding. Tyholland will not be wanting for a goal keeper for our Senior squad in a few years with this lad about! The last 15 minutes of the game were literally score for score but despite their best efforts they came away empty handed. The dissappointment felt by all was clear to be seen but they should hold their heads high and remember they proved that they deserved to be there and it is one match that will definately be remembered by the large crowd that attended. The team were Oran Hughes, Ruairi Treanor, Ryan McNally, Malachy Treanor, James Allen, Darragh Treanor, Gareth McGinnity, Dara McKenna, Killian McNally, Conor McEvoy, Dylan O’reilly, Dylan Treanor, Christopher McGarry, Charlie McElroy, Michael Hatzer, David Allen and Josh Dinkin. As always team photo is on facebook. Many thanks and well done to Management Glen Treanor, Dermot Coyle and Gareth McKenna for all they have done for this team and our club during the year!
