Secondary School Senior Boys 7 a side Football Floodlight Blitz

Last night the annual Secondary School Senior Boys 7 a side football blitz took place in cloghan. In total we had 6 schools (7 teams) taking part, they were; Beech Hill, Colaiste Oiriall, Castleblayney College, Our Lady’s Secondary School, Largy College and Patrician High School(2 teams).

On a lovely evening for football all schools that participated played some intelligent and exciting 7’s football. One of the rules of the competition was 3 points to be awarded for scores that was kicked from 30metres from goal. As the matches progressed it was great to see players improving in this aspect and certainly one of the highlights of the evening was scores being kicked from distance!! Due to the numbers of teams(Schools) that where taking part, there was one group and each team played each other. The winners then was the team with the most points (wins). This team was Patrician High School who won all of their 5 games, this is the second year in row that they have won this competition.

Monaghan Coaching & Games Development Committee & Staff would like to thank the referees, the players and the schools and Mangers (management teams) for attending the blitz but also their support in promoting Gaelic Games within their Schools. Furthermore we would like to wish the schools all the best in the competitions that they play in this year.

See below a selection of photos from the winning School, Patrician High Schools. Dean Connolly (Killanny) receiving the cup from Colin Malone (Monaghan Coaching & Games Staff) & Joe Duffy (Principal & Manager of Patrician High School)
