Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship Semi-Final

Clontibret 1-12 Magheracloone 3-4                                     11/9/16

Clontibret qualified for their eighth SFC Final since 2006 when they edged out Magheracloone. A brace of goals by Paudie McMahon sandwiched a Vincent Corey strike in a dramatic start, giving Magheracloone the edge, but five Conor McManus points had Clontibret 1-6 to 2-2 ahead at half-time. Magheracloone failed to score for 26 minutes in the second half, but after falling five points down, they got a lifeline when McMahon completed his hat-trick. McManus and Conor Boyle scored crucial points, however, to ensure Clontibret advanced to another final.

Holders Scotstown are in their fourth consecutive county final after a strong second-half performance saw them past Ballybay. A cracking goal by Christopher McGuinness helped Ballybay lead by four points at the end of the opening quarter and although they then went 16 minutes without scoring to allow Scotstown draw level, a strong finish to the first half saw the Pearse Brothers change ends ahead by 1-6 to 0-7. Scotstown enjoyed another purple patch after the interval, however, with the excellent Kieran Hughes kicking four of their seven unanswered points. Ballybay responded with the last three scores, but their bid for a first final appearance since 2012 fell short.
