McElvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship Round 3B

Currin v Donaghmoyne, Saturday, 5.30, Aughnamullen

Emyvale v Tyholland, Saturday, 5.30, Truagh

The last two places in the IFC semi-finals are up for grabs on Saturday evening.

Donaghmoyne and Currin go head to head in Aughnamullen. Having beaten Corduff, Donaghmoyne put their last-gasp loss to Inniskeen behind them with a comprehensive victory over Aughnamullen and they have also returned to winning ways in the league to keep pace with the Grattans at the top. Currin put their league struggles (which include two defeats against Donaghmoyne) behind them to beat Cremartin after a replay in the first round, but they fell away in the second half of their Round 2A loss to Rockcorry.

Donaghmoyne will be hoping for big performances from the likes of David Garland, Mikey Murnaghan, Francis Markey, Pádraig Donaghy and Stephen Finnegan, while Currin will need big performances from Dick Clerkin, Stephen Smyth and Ciarán and Enda McCaffrey if they are to stay in contention.

Truagh hosts a north-Monaghan derby between Tyholland and Emyvale, who meet at this stage for the second year in a row.

Tyholland came from behind to edge a one-point win on that occasion and they are back at this stage 12 months on, having beaten Aughnamullen, before losing narrowly to Inniskeen. Emyvale put a loss to Rockcorry behind them to get past Cremartin and Corduff; both by the narrowest of margins. Emyvale won in Tyholland back in May, but they fell to a seven-point defeat in the return fixture in July.

Emyvale will need Ryan McAnespie, Daniel McMahon, Garreth McQuaid, Gregory Devlin and David McAlister on form, with Gary McQuaid, Karl O’Connell, Dermot Coyle, Shane Treanor and Pádraig Finnan among the main men for Tyholland.

SFC finalists Clontibret and Scotstown are at home to Latton and Monaghan Harps respectively in the County Monaghan Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League game on Saturday, while league leaders Ballybay host Carrickmacross. Elsewhere, Truagh travel to Magheracloone and Doohamlet make the short trip to Castleblayney.

It’s seventh versus eighth in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League on Saturday when Cremartin host Rockcorry.

The Eurotech Football League Cup continues on Saturday with Oram v Éire Óg, while Drumhowan can go out on their own at the top of the JFL Shield if they get a result against Killeevan.

There are another couple of Gerry’s Prepared Veg. juvenile finals down for decision on Saturday. Aughnamullen and Donaghmoyne will be bidding to complete Division One doubles at Under-16 and Under-14 levels respectively in their league finals. Aughnamullen are up against Castleblayney in Oram (1pm), a week after winning the U-16 championship, while Donaghmoyne’s U-14s face Latton in Corduff (1.30).
