From August 1st to October 30th 2016 former Ballybay footballer Emmet Mc Aviney now resident in Killkenny will aim to run 1000 miles, culminating with the 26.2 miles of the Dublin City Marathon. Over the 90 days he will run approximately 10 miles a day, recording the distances on Strava.
As part of the challenge he will be hosting 6 Saturday fun runs with GAA County Stars at their local clubs. Families and children can come and join him and their County Heroes to run a mile and raise funds by donating €5 each to join the run. As with all donations, 100% of funds raised will go to assist Barnardos in supporting disadvantaged children and families at Christmas.
On Saturday 20th August, Emmet will be doing this with some of the Monaghan stars, including Paul Finlay, Drew Wylie, Ryan Wylie, Conor McManus and hopefully a few more to be confirmed. This will happen at 11:45am at Ballybay GAA grounds.
