Magheracloone 0-18 Latton 1-13
Magheracloone ended their wait for an SFC semi-final appearance with an exciting win over Latton in Clontibret. Magheracloone had nine scorers, including all six starting forwards (led by Tommy Freeman with 0-7) and even though Hugh McElroy and Owen Duffy were to the fore in a spirited finish by Latton, they fell just short.

Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship Round 2B
Clontibret 0-15 Monaghan Harps 0-9
Clontibret stayed in the hunt with this Conor McManus-inspired six-point win over Monaghan Harps in Emyvale. McManus hit all but two points of Clontibret’s tally as they advanced to a back-door quarter final, outscoring their opponents by 0-10 to 0-4 in the second half. Clontibret were held scoreless in the opening quarter as the Harps made the better start, but four McManus points helped them draw level at 0-5 apiece by half-time. The scores remained close for most of the second half until Clontibret pulled away in the closing stages, with McManus unerring from placed kicks. The Harps managed seven points from play to Clontibret’s three, but the concession of scoreable frees was their Achilles heel.
Clontibret: D McDonnell; C Duffy, B Greenan, D Mooney; D Mone (0-1), C Boyle, C Greenan; C Lavelle, V Corey (Capt.); P Boyle, R McGuigan, K Greenan (0-1); K Lavelle, M Corey, C McManus (0-13, 10f, 2 ‘45s).

Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship Round 3B
Clontibret 2-13 Latton 1-14 28/8/16
Clontibret claimed the last place in the SFC semi-finals with a dramatic win over Latton in Castleblayney. Clontibret managed just one point from play in the first half, at the end of which they trailed by 0-7 to 0-6, with Conor McManus again keeping his side in it with his free-taking. Clontibret had Martin Corey sent off following an off-the-ball incident at the end of the opening quarter, but the 14 men had the ball in the Latton net at the start of the second half via a Killian Lavelle flick. They were six clear when Vincent Corey palmed to the net on 47 minutes, but Latton responded with an unanswered 1-3, including 1-2 from substitute Bernard O’Brien. Clontibret finished with 13 men after the added-time dismissal of David Savage, but an 11th McManus point regained their lead and Vincent Corey kicked the last point at the death.
