Previous weeks have seen the takings in the lotto drop significantly, a lot of you know this is our main source of income. This is a very simple way to keep the club running and all we ask is that all players and members make an effort and try and take part in our lotto. All envelopes can be dropped into either of the 2 shops, chip shop or either of the 2 pubs in the village
Senior’s
After we finished in the top 6 the Junior league split with the top 6 playing for the league and another shield for the bottom 5. Sunday we played our first game away to Toome and it proved to be the usual case to be stuck in a fight for any sort of a result up there and that we did! Despite having the advantage of an extra man on the field after the home side had a man sent off just before half time it seemed to spur them on and leave our lads having to dig deep to get away with a result and we did just that. Goals from Micky Tierney, Ryan Sherlock, Connor Leonard and Andrew Mc Mahon proved vital as we held on for a brilliant 2 point win.
Final score Eire og 4-10 Toome 2-14
A fantastic result especially as we head into the big game this Sunday as we take on our near neighbours The Sean’s in the Junior championship quarter final in Clontibret this coming Sunday, throw in is at 1.15 and as always we hope to see our great travelling support on the day.
Minors
Our Minor team who have been amalgamated with Killeveen played in the semi final of the championship in Scotstown this evening Tuesday and what a performance put in by all. The Monaghan clan proved vital again with Shane clearing up in defence and had Shane offering support from half forward while upfront it was Tommy kicking some brilliant scores. As the game wore on and the pressure built both Daniel Toal and Rigan Mc Aree but in a serious shift keeping Clann Na Gael at bay. Francie Mc Mahon meanwhile showed his qualities once he had the ball as a number of times he left men for dead with serious speed and grabbed himself some fantastic scores. Other great performers on the night came as always from Connor Leonard who showed his class in midfield and dominated that area from start to finish but had brilliant help from Calvin Carlisle who proved vital with his work rate from start to finish.
Final score Mullai Sarsfields 2-15 Clann Na Gael 0-13
Well done to all the lads and Management of Raymond Leonard and James Marrow and best of luck in the final.
U12’s
Our great run with this group continued as we travelled to Killanny on Saturday and had a strong win which now leaves us in a semi-final spot this coming Saturday at home to Scotstown. Throw in is at 3pm.
