Last Saturday, the 6th August, Monaghan Coaching & Games organised an all-county U8 GoGames Football blitz for the hallowed turf of St Tiarnach’s Park Clones. With 27 of the 29 clubs attending the blitz, the GoGames blitz had to be split into two different time slots with the first group playing between 9.30 and 11.30 and 12pm and 2pm.
Over the course of the day, 480 children took part in the blitz with the clubs split into 48 teams. Each team got a minimum of 2 games over the course of blitz. A big thanks to Clones GAA for allowing us to use the facilities. It’s great that the children can experience using the same dressing rooms and play on the same field as their county hero’s and hopefully this will encourage them to continue playing with their clubs and it might even inspire them to play for Monaghan in the future.
Finally, we would just like to thank the 20 Young Whistlers who officiated on the day. The next U8 blitz will take place on Saturday 27th August, this will be part of a double blitz with the U10’s. Each of the host clubs will be in contact with regards this blitz in the next week or two.
