Intermediate Team:
The Intermediate Team got back to winning ways in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League with a 1-07 to 1-06 win over Emyvale last Sunday in Corduff. A first half goal from Gerard Connolly set the wheels in motion sending the home side into a five point lead at the break. Emyvale came back strong in the second half, but a late point from Ciaran Brennan sealed the win.
With no league game this weekend, attention turns to the Round 2B of the Intermediate Football Championship which will be played on Saturday 3rd September in Drumhowan, where we will play the winners of Emyvale & Cremartin.
Junior Team:
The Junior side travelled to Scotstown last Saturday evening for their second game of the Junior Football League Shield competition. Unfortunately, they found Scotstown to be in imperious form, losing out on a scoreline of 0-16 to 0-05.
This Sunday, we welcome Drumhowan to Corduff for a 12:30pm throw-in.
Minor Team:
The first bit of silverware is up for grabs next Tuesday evening with the Minor Football League Division 1 Final against Magheracloone taking place in Aughnamullen. Throw-in is at 6:30pm. All support welcome.
LADIES
Under 14s:
Despite a very good effort the U14 season came to an end on Monday evening when they exited the championship. The team was as follows: Erica Smyth, Abbie Mc Givney, Shannon Duffy Dunne, Katie Walsh, Georgia Smyth, Emily Hegarty, Elena McEnaney, Abbie Finegan, Kerrie Anne Walsh, Annie Brennan, Rheanne McGarrell, Fiona Corrigan, Ellen Connolly, Holly Higgins and Amy Corrigan. It was very encouraging to see new players coming through the ranks during the season and we look forward to seeing them again in 2017.
The girls did the Corduff Ladies club proud in 2016 by reaching the U14 League final and by being narrowly beaten by a point. The club would like to extend huge gratitude to the management team of Declan Kernan, Dermot Hand and Peter Brennan for their commitment to the team during the season. Also thanks to our U14 sponsors Carrick Credit Union and Gerry’s Farm Supplies and of course to all the parents who made sure everyone attended training and matches.
County News:
Last Saturday Monaghan Senior Ladies had a massive win over Kerry and booked their place in the All Ireland semi-final against Cork next week. Corduff Ladies would like to congratulate joint captain Laura McEnaney, Eva Woods and the Monaghan team on this super victory. The countdown is on to the the semi-final!
Exam Results:
Congratulations to all our members who received results last week and best wishes for the future on whatever path you choose to follow.
