U-16s :
The U-16s had a busy week last week when they travelled to Thermafeckin outside Drogheda for the third round of the U-16 league . The Blayney boys put up a great performance but just couldn’t get the better of a strong home team that won an All- Ireland Feile title . Then on Saturday they travelled to Fermanagh were they took part in the Shane Mullholland U-16 memorial tournament . Having beating East Cavan Gaels the boys qualified for the final against the home team Lisbelaw who were determined in the first year of this competition to win this cup and
Put in a very strong performance against a good Blayney side to win in the end . The Blayney lads must be congradulated on the way they played and how they represented the club on the day in this prestigious competition. Nest game for this group is against Maddock Rangers .
Seniors.
We paly Inniskeen in the Final Of the league on this Thursday evening in Clontibret at 7pm.
Players meeting at the commons at 6pm sharp.
We played Naomh Colum Cille in Coalisland last Sunday. The conditions were very wet but the lads give a great account of themselves.
With just 15 players it was a hard fought match with some of our younger charges, Conor Mc Nally, James Carville, James Lavelle and Pauric Malone showing up really well.
All getting on the score sheet. At half time the score was 1-6 Blayney to 2-2 NCC. Our midfield pairing of Brian Mc Guigan and Mark Treanor made the difference with Peter Treanor and Bernard Connor mopping up any loose balls. Jack Deasy, Eoin Leonard and Kevin Mc Cooey help the full back line tight and Stephen Forde and Brian Flanagan played
Well both in defence and attach. Fergal Rafter, Mark Treanor and Brian Mc guigan scored four excellent points each. All in all this was a very good display and leaves us in second place in the table with four matches to play.
Congratulations to the Castleblayney Comogie team on winning a tough Championship Final against their old rivals Clontibret by two points last Sunday. Best of luck in Ulster girls.
We Extend our sincerest sympathy to the Mc Aree Family on the recent death of Colette Mc Aree. May her gentle soul rest In Peace
