PLATINUM TANKS RESERVE FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 2 FINAL.

Blackhill 2-14, Sean McDermotts 0-8.

Blackhill who have experienced so much bitter disappointment in finals over the last few years, gained a measure of redemption on Wednesday night last when their reserve team clinched the reserve football league division 2 title at the expense of Sean McDermotts and in the process also gained a measure of compensation for defeat by the same opposition in the Crawley Cup final back in June. Blackhill were deserving winners on the night, a difficult night for football with heavy rain falling for most of the match but in fairness the Rockcorry pitch played extremely well. Sean McDermotts started the better and were ahead by a point at the end of a low scoring opening quarter with Blackhill then striking for the 1st of their 2 goals and those scores gave them a 7 points cushion at half-time and they consolidated early in the second-half with 4 unanswered points in the opening 6 minutes to extend their lead to 10 points. Sean McDermotts to their credit continued to strive for openings but the momentum was now with Blackhill and they played some excellent football particularly on counter attacks to the extent that they had the result wrapped up some time before the finish.
