Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Finals
Carrickmacross v Inniskeen, Thursday, 7.30, Carrickmacross
Clontibret v Monaghan Harps, Thursday, 7.30, Truagh
The SHC semi-finals take place on Thursday evening, including a local derby in Carrickmacross, where the Emmets have a home venue against Inniskeen.
Inniskeen are bidding to qualify for a seventh straight SHC Final after knocking out last year’s winners Castleblayney after extra-time at the quarter-final stage a week ago. Inniskeen are second in the SHL, having lost just once, and they had a comprehensive win at the end of last month over Carrick, who are in a three-way tie for third place.
Inniskeen will be looking to Martin Murphy and Ronan, Paul, Dónal and Colm Meegan to lead the way, while Carrick will need the Mac Suibhnes on form, along with Jamie Guinan and Jason O’Rourke.
Truagh is the venue for the meeting of Clontibret and Monaghan Harps.
Clontibret turned Truagh over after extra-time last Thursday to move within one win of a first county final appearance since 2008 – the Harps’ last appearance in the decider was in 2004. Both of these teams have struggled in the league to date, with Clontibret’s narrow win over the Harps last month separating them in the table.
Shane and Raymond McNally, Ned McCann and Arthur Morgan should play key roles for Clontibret, with the Harps needing big performances from the likes of Cathal Power, Conor Flynn and Alan Ryan.
County Monaghan Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League leaders Ballybay make the short trip to Doohamlet on Sunday evening, while the earlier games include a south-Monaghan derby between Carrickmacross and Magheracloone. The other games see in-form Tyholland host Rockcorry and bottom side Currin take on Emyvale, whose fellow joint-fifth-placed teams meet when Aughnamullen travel to Cremartin.
The final round before the split of the Eurotech Junior Football League takes place this Sunday, before the top six go into the Cup competition and the other five play for the Shield. Drumhowan’s face Blackhill, Scotstown host Clones and Éire Óg meet Corduff.
