Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship Round 1B

Clones v Corduff, Saturday, 7.00, Cremartin

 

The only JFC game of the weekend sees Clones go in as strong favourites against Corduff in Cremartin on Saturday evening.

Clones lost to Blackhill in the first round, but have been in good form in the league to secure their place in the top half, while Corduff have yet to earn a point since entering a junior team and they fell to a heavy defeat against Seán McDermotts in their championship opener. Fintan Kelly, James Mealiff, Adrian Alford, Darragh Holland, Eoin McQuaid and Colm Connolly are key players for Clones, who should be comfortable winners.

 

There are refixed midweek games in the County Monaghan Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League, starting with Ballybay v Scotstown and Truagh v Castleblayney on Monday. Wednesday’s fixtures are Carrickmacross v Latton, Doohamlet v Monaghan Harps and Magheracloone v Clontibret.

 

There are also two games down for decision in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League on Wednesday, with leaders Donaghmoyne hosting Killanny and Inniskeen taking on Corduff.

 

There are a number of Maguire Transport Minor Football Championship quarter-finals scheduled for Tuesday, including Division One games between Aughnamullen and St. Patrick’s, Corduff and Scotstown, Monaghan Harps and Magheracloone and Truagh and Clontibret. In Division Two, it’s Clann na nGael v Patrick Emmets, Emyvale v Castleblayney, Inniskeen v Na Mullaí Sarsfields and Killany v Carrickmacross.

There are also three Minor Football League Division Three games on Tuesday: namely Cremartin v Latton, Doohamlet v Rockcorry and Tyholland v Seán McDermotts.

 

Carrickmacross and Emyvale contest an Under-21 Football Division One quarter-final on Friday, while Monaghan Harps and Magheracloone meet in the first semi-final on Sunday.

 

There are final-round fixtures in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 1A between Clontibret and Monaghan Harps on Friday and Truagh and Latton on Sunday. The last round in Division 1B sees Emyvale host Ballybay and leaders Donaghmoyne make the short trip to nearest challengers Castleblayney, while Blackhill host table-toppers Seán McDermotts in Division Two. In Division Three, it’s Éire Óg v Oram and Carrickmacross v Killeevan on Saturday, Killanny v Truagh on Sunday and Clones v Aghabog and Oram v Monaghan Harps on Wednesday.

 

Another busy week of Gerry’s Prepared Veg. juvenile football action includes a triple-header of Under-14 Football Championship Finals in Drumhowan on Saturday.
