Goals cost Monaghan dearly as the county U21’s exited this years All-Ireland hurling ‘C’ championship following a four points defeat after extra time at the hands of Louth on Saturday last.
In a thrilling encounter played at an almost perfect Dowdall’s Hill venue the visitors couldn’t build on their good start but they fought might and main all the way and it was only in extra time that the home side pulled away.
At half-time the hosts led by 2-09 to 1-09 and it was Monaghan 1-17 to Louth’s 3-11 at the end of normal time..
