Seniors.
Our seniors played Emyvale on Sunday morning last, in Scotshouse. The huge travelling panel certainly put a strain on our modest resources prompting the comment that we might need bigger dressing rooms and dug outs rather than a new stand. However even though we have been decimated of late by injuries and emigration we started really well playing probably the best football of the year and we could have been ‘out of sight’ after ten minutes when we lead by six points to one and had been denied a goal by the crossbar. Despite the injury to Jack after ten minutes we were still in front approaching the end of the half, when two injury time goals gave the visitors a rather fortuitous half time lead. Currin 0-8, Emyvale, 2-3. The second half began just like the first and soon we were back in front with great points from Jason Mc Kiernan and Niall Mc Entee. Having gone behind once again, we rallied and were leading at full time when again we were caught with another sucker punch in the fourth minute of injury time. Final score, Emyvale, 3-8, Currin, 0-15. It can be pointed out that we conceded three goals and a point in injury time, but on a positive note we scored eleven of our fifteen points from play and we only conceded
three points from play in the entire game. Team and scorers, Fergal Connolly, Colm Mc Caffrey, Paddy Mc Dermott, Ronan King, Ben Clerkin, Conor Mc Caffrey, Dara Brady, Dick Clerkin, 0-2, Ciaran Mc Caffrey, Cian North, 0-1, Stephen Smith, 0-7, Jason Mc Kiernan,0-1, Niall Mc Entee, 0-1, Jack Mc Carron,0-3. Ciaran Kearns. Subs used, Paul Rudden for Jack Mc Carron, Shane O Connor for Ben Clerkin. Antony Leonard for Niall Mc Entee.
Injuries,
Best wishes to those players who have recently been injured. Before the game on Sunday Eoin Morrow and Dylan Greenan had joined the list of casualties with Dylan having ‘done’ the dreaded ‘ACL’. However, he has only to look around our dressing room and take heart that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that the hard work will pay off in the end. On Sunday Jack Mc Carron seriously injured his ankle and Ben Clerkin also came off injured. We hope that all will recover soon.
Thanks.
Currin would like to thank Mrs Kelly, the Emyvale team Physio, who helped our own Laura on Sunday with the injuries to our players, it was very much appreciated.
