Senior League: The senior team continued their winning ways last Monday night when they travelled to Truagh and picked up two very valuable points, forced to field without a number of players due to holidays the boys scored the first of their goals when Brendan Mc Elroy found the net after 18 minutes with a second goal from Fergal McGeough just before half time giving the lads the advantage at half time on a score line of Truagh 0-6 points Faughs 2-4, the second half saw Truagh close the gap but good forward play saw further scores from Brendan McElroy and Kevin Mackin to insured that the two points travelled back to Castleblayney. The result sees us now move up to fourth on eleven points. We now play Monaghan Harps away on Sunday 24th of July with a throw in time of 2pm.

Junior B. Donaghmoyne were unable to field last Saturday night and we were given the two points, this see us now finish the league in second place. We now play Aughnamullen in the league semi-final on Wednesday 27th of July in St Marys Park with a throw in time of 7.30pm.

Senior Ladies: Our Senior Ladies met Carrickmacross at home on Saturday the 16th July 2016 unfortunately due to holidays and injuries are Ladies were missing a number of vital players and were on the back foot before the match started. They played to the best of their ability in the circumstances but Carrickmacross proved the much stronger team on the evening. Our next Senior League Fixture is on Saturday the 23rd July 2016 away to Tyholland with a throw in time of 7pm.

Know Your Sport: Another busy week on know your sport with Galway’s win in the Connaught Final securing 250 points for the winners, the world number 5 Henrik Stenson winning a brilliant British Open Championship but unfortunately this will only add 25 points to your score, the last event this weekend was the Ulster Final which saw Tyrone emerge victorious which will get you a further 200 points, this weekend sees the last event of the competition with the Tour De France finishing on Sunday, the current leader and defending champion is Chris Froome who if he stays in the yellow jersey will secure you a further 125 points. We will try to issue the leader board in advance of the weekend.

Boys Under 10: The lads travelled to Truagh last Saturday morning to play in the annual Truagh Blitz, they were placed in a tough group along with Derrynose, Armagh Harps, and Scotstown , the boys won their opening game against Armagh Harps, they played Derrynose but lost out to the better team on the day (Derrynose were the eventual winners) and in the last league game we beat Scotstown to advance out of the group to play Clann Eireann from Lurgan in the shield quarter final , its game like this that our boys will learn from, despite having a huge amount of possession we could convert it on the score board as Clann pick off some nice scores on the counter attack to win by three points.

The young Faughs lads were a credit to the club and showed great commitment and determination during the day, panel for the day was Ben Mc Donnell, David Lambe, Canice Murphy, Thyo Olayjide, Diarmuid Coyle, Diarmuid Kelly, Sean Doran, Paul Mc Kenna, Brion Sherry, Max Mc Ginnity, Tom Carey, Lorcan Mone and Kian Cooke. Even though the Girls had opened up a good lead they continued with conviction in the second half and you could tell through their tireless efforts as a team that they were determined to reach the Final.
