ULSTER HURLING SHIELD FINAL.
Donegal 5-13, Monaghan 2-14
Donegal hurlers survived a choppy start to eventually overcame a plucky but slightly unlucky Monaghan in the first ever Ulster Shield Final in Brewster Park.
The winners had a sluggish start and actually trailed a lighter but much livelier Monaghan by 2-4 to 0-1 by the 13th minute.
But two somewhat lucky goals brought the winners right back into contention and they actually led by 3-3 to 2-4 at half time, going on to clinch victory with a strong second half performance.
