On Saturday past, the 10th of June, the Monaghan U14 Football Development Squad had their second outing. They took part in an Ulster Provincial Blitz. The blitz took place in the Tyrone Training Grounds in Garvaghey with Monaghan entering two teams on the day. Each squad had over twenty players and with each team playing three matches, all players got to play a minimum of 60 minutes of football over the course of the day. Both teams played Armagh, Down and Tyrone with both teams competing well in all of their games. One of the teams won one game and narrowly lost their other two games with the other team winning two games and losing out in their third. The squad will now be reduced to a panel of forty players for the rest of the year. There next blitz isn’t until the end of August so the team will now complete a number of training sessions in preparation for the blitz. We would just like to thank Paul O’Connor, Colin Malone, Marty Corey, Rory Beggan, Mark Hand and Joseph McDonnell for helping out on the day.
