Last week, Monaghan Coaching & Games organised their final GoGames blitz for Primary Schools before they break for the summer holidays. This year the blitz took place on a regional bases instead of one central venue to try an encourage more schools to take in the blitz. In the end three different venues were used, namely Killeevan, Aughnamullen and Cloghan. The blitzes in Killeevan and Aughnamullen took place on Wednesday the 8th of June, while the blitz in Cloghan took place on Thursday the 9th of June.
The blitz was aimed at boys and girls from third and fourth class with school able to enter teams in three different categories. Boys only, girls only or mixed. Over the course of the two days, 20 schools, 54 teams and over 640 children took part in the blitz. It was great to see some schools taking all their pupils from third and fourth class to the blitz and giving them all a chance to participate. This is what these blitzes are for and hopefully going forward, more schools will take that lead and start doing similar.
We would just like to thank the three venues for the use of their facilities, the twenty schools and their teachers for coming along to the blitz and finally the referees who came along to referee at the blitzes.
We are currently planning our Primary School Coaching Timetable for 2016/2017 so any school who hasn’t returned the Questionnaire to please do so as soon as possible.
