Seniors.

Our seniors played Rockcorry on Friday last in Scotshouse. The incessant rain after the dry spell made conditions very difficult for both teams, who deserve great credit for the quality of the game served up. The visitors were the better team in the first half and a Stephen Smith goal mid-way through the half ensured we were only one down at half time on a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-6. In the second half we dominated and with a great spread of scorers we went on to win, deservedly, by four points. Final score, Currin, 1-12, Rockcorry, 0-11. Team and scorers, Fergal Connolly, Colm Mc Caffrey, Sean Brady, Ben Clerkin, Dara Brady, Ronan King, Cian North, Eoin Morrow, 0-1. Ciaran Mc Caffrey, 0-1, Kieran Kearns, Stephen Smith 1-2, Dick Clerkin, 0-1, Niall Mc Entee,0-1, Jack Mc Carron, 0-5, Michael Quigley. Subs used, Jason Mc Kiernan, Conor Mc Caffrey, 0-1.

We are down to play Tyholland in Scotshouse on Sunday 26th June at 1.30pm in a ‘Star’ game.

Youth Affairs

Under 14’s,

Patrick Emmett’s bounced back from a disappointing league defeat to Clones on Tuesday last with a memorable win in the Championship also against the

same opposition. The lads got a run out on the wonderful St Tiarnach’s Park and put in terrific performance worthy of the venue leading from the start to finish but it was far from easy. Both teams were a credit to their clubs showing great determination, fantastic sportsmanship and no little skill and no one had a breath left at the end and it was easy to see why. It took a fantastic team effort to get this deserved win, well done to all concerned. Final score: Patrick Emmetts, 6-14, Clones 5-12. The new Currin jerseys got their first run out too and looked very well. Unfortunately the next game came too soon after that effort and we lost out to Clontibret on the Thursday evening in the League. Next game is the Championship semifinal against Cremartin in Cremartin on Saturday at 12 noon. All support appreciated.

Under 12’s,

Along with the under 10’s we put in another brave and improving performance against Killanny on Saturday last but untimately came out second best on the day. Our next game is against Eire Og in Smithboro on Saturday 25th June at 12 noon.

Under 6 and Under 8 training continues Saturday at 9:30am. Under 10 ‘Go Games’ Blitz scheduled for Rockcorry on Saturday has been moved. Awaiting details as this goes to print.

Coaching

We really do need additional coaches to take on the role of inducting and training the young players, particularly from Under 6 to Under 10 level. Parents and others are encouraged to participate on Saturday morning at 9:30pm. Please pass the word.

European Medal Winner.,

Huge congratulations to Terry Mc Entee on his magnificent achievement on winning a European Bronze medal in Russia last Monday. The Mc Entee’s are great club members and Terry being one of only two Irish boxers to medal at these championships was indeed a fantastic achievement. Well done to all his coaches, especially Fergal in the ‘Old School’ boxing club.

‘Farney Fry Up’

Well done to all associated with the very successfull and enjoyable ‘Farney FryUp’ on Sunday last. Great to see our Currin supporters among the crowds.
