Faughs Friday Walking Club: Castleblayney Faughs are continuing their healthy club initiative and in doing so hope to enrich the lives of every member of the local community. One such initiative is our ongoing walking/social activity which whch takes place each Friday at 11am at St.Marys Park, followed by a social ‘cuppa’ in the Club Rooms. The only cost involved is the payment of the Club’s Annual Social Membership, which ensures every person is covered by Insurance. You are earnestly encouraged and welcome to join this club activity and meet and chat with old and new friends.
Senior League the Senior team returned to winning ways when they defeated Clontibret last Friday evening. A heavy shower of rain before the game made for very tricky conditions for both teams and a half time the Faughs led by 1-2 to 0-3, with the goal coming from Patrick Tavey. The second half started with Clontibret getting back on level terms before three Dermot Malone points ensured that the Faughs won on a score line of Faughs 1-7 Clontibret 0-8, the two points now see us move up to sixth in the league with seven points, our next game away to Carrick on Sunday 26th of June with a 1.30pm throw in.
Junior Bs: The B team took on Cremartin last Sunday afternoon, the Faughs got off to a good start when Ronan McNamara found the net before Cremartin got a goal of their own to draw the game at 1-3 apiece, the Faughs responded with three points by Fintan Finnegan to leave us in front at half time on a score line of Faughs 1-7 Cremartin 1-4. The second half started well with Kevin Mackin scoring two goals either side of a strike from Damien Hughes which ended the game as contest, a Colin Merrick goal towards the end of the game capped a fine performance for the Faughs. Final Score Faughs 5-13 Cremartin 2-7. The lads now have a home game this Sunday when they take on Emyvale, throw in time 3pm.

Boys Under 8: Last Saturday saw the young Under 8 boys take part in Go Games in St Mays Park, they played against Magheracloone, Scotstown, Truagh and Clontibret, they played really well in all games showing some great determination and skill right throughout the morning, well done boys.
Under 12 Boys: On Saturday the U12 boys senior and development teams travelled to Scotstown in Rd4 of their respective Div1 & Div5 competitions. First up was the Senior U12 Senior Team – the lads started well, and went in leading at half time 5-2 to 1-5 with an early Daniel McShane goal setting the lads on their way. The lads started well in the 2nd half, and looked to be cruising, but a very determined Scotstown came storming back into the game, and really made the Blayney lads work very hard to win the game. Final Score Faughs 6-10 Scotstown 4-8. Next up was the Development Team – this was a very tight and competitive game right from the start. A very determined and battling first half saw the young Faughs lads leading at half time 2-5 to 0-6. Scotstown start to the 2nd half swung the game in their favour, with their physically stronger midfield dominating the kick outs, but the young Faughs lads showed great spirit and determination to fight back into the game, and were very unlucky for a number of goal chances in the last 10 minutes as the Scotstown keeper made a number of very good saves. Overall another very determined and committed performance from this group of young players. Final Score Faughs 4-8 Scotstown 3-17. Teams: Brandon McCague, Shea Casey, Ross Maguire, Charlie McQuillan, Ultan McMahon, Arnus Gleeson, Martin Joyce, Thomas Hughes, Nathan McArdle, Conor Ruddy, Kealan McMahon, Jake McDonnell, Daniel McShane, Jamie Ward, Sean Bishop, Niall Rice, Cian Malone, Ionut Lungu. Girls Under 12: Saturday saw our u12 girls play their first match of the year at home to Aughnamullen. Aughnamullen girls dominated the first ten minutes of the first half but our girls settled into the game and lead by two points at half time. However, in the 2nd half the Aughnamullen girls came much more into the match, got some good scores and managed to lead for a time until a few great scores for the Faughs girls came through. Final score Faughs 6-02 Aughnamullen 4-02. All the Faughs girls old and new played with great enthusiasm and spirit showing that hard work and determination pays off. Well done to all and thanks to Aughnamullen for a great match. Girls away to Latton this Wednesday 16th June, kick off 7pm.
