Results: On Friday evening last in winter conditions the senior team hosted Monaghan Harps in the latest round of fixtures in the Monaghan Credit Union Senior Football League. With a number of personal unavailable to the Ballybay side for a number of reasons the squad was stretched to its bare bones but still managed to field a strong fifteen, which shows the depth that’s available to the management. Monaghan Harps opened the scoring in the early exchanges but Ballybay soon levelled matters with a Paul Finlay free and soon took complete control around the middle third to open up a sizable lead. Finlay always was in amazing form in the full forward line with Thomas Kerr & Shane McGuiness also making significant contributions to the score board. The latter was busy all evening making runs and creating space for others if he was unable to get on the ball himself. Kieran Galligan & Thomas O’Neil where on top in the middle throughout with Shane McQuillan winning any 50/50 ball that hit the deck. Aaron Toner was also in good form with his strong runs creating opening for the Ballyaby attack throughout. Thomas Kerr and Paul Finlay exchanged a number of points from both free & dead ball situations with Galligan getting on the score board from the middle. Coming to half time the home side looked to be in complete control but in the dying moments of the half following an altercation on the dugout side Finlay received a black card. Half time score Ballybay 0-8 Monaghan Harps 0-3. Half time allowed the players and management to regroup and organise, which is exactly what they done but it was Monaghan that started the half brighter scoring 1-3 without reply, the goal resulting in a deflection ending in the hands of the Monaghan attacker before he finished to the back of the net. Ballybay where still ahead on the score board but needed leaders to stand up and that’s exactly what they got in the form of the Wylies, Evan Rutledge, Michael Hannon & James Kerr in defence while the McGuiness brothers and Thomas Kerr continued to cause trouble for the visitors. Dessie Ward got forward to get Ballybay’s first score of the half and settled thing down, which was followed by two Kerr scores to put some day light between the teams. Galligan go his second of the day with a superb effort of his left before Shane McGuiness finished the scoring to leave a full time score of Ballybay 0-14 Monaghan Harps 1-7. Ballybay team: Sean Gorman, Evan Rutledge, Drew Wylie, Ryan Wylie, Dessie Ward, Michael Hannon, James Kerr, Thomas O’Neil. Ciaran Galligan, Aaron Toner, Thomas Kerr, Shane McQuillan, Shane McGuiness, Paul Finlay, Shane McGuiness & Barry Macklin.

Bingo: Just a quick note to remind everyone that the club’s weekly Bingo takes place every Tuesday night at 9pm in the clubhouse. The bingo is a great opportunity for the community to come together midweek and have a good night while maybe even winning a few bob. This is a fundamental part of the club’s fund raising for day-to-day costs and we would all really appreciate if you, your friends or your family could support this if you can at all. And, don’t forget, there is transport available to the centre. Every week, our volunteers go to great efforts to keep this going so that all of the other voluntary members of the club have a good starting platform. Hope to see some new faces tomorrow night and over the coming weeks!

Cul camps: Don’t forget to register your child in this year’s Cul Camps taking place this summer. To ensure that your kids get their packs early registration is essential. For more info contact Cillian McAviney or Evan Rutledge.
