Last Saturday, the first all-county U10 GoGames blitz took place at the Monaghan Training Grounds in Cloghan. Despite the inclement weather, the players, the coaches and their parents seemed to enjoy the day.
In total there was 25 clubs who attended with 32 teams taking part. That is a total of over 500 children. The clubs were split into two different time slots, with the first group taking place from 9.30am – 11.30am and the second group taking place from 12pm – 2pm. This ensured that all teams got plenty of football during the day, with no team sitting out.
The games cannot go ahead without referees and there were 23 young whistlers also in attendance on Saturday, keeping the players within the rules of the game. At every opportunity the young referee’s tried to explain to the players why they were giving a free kick, which goes a long way to help all the players learn the rules of the game, while also enjoying their football at the same time.
Monaghan Coaching & Games would just like to thank Gerry’s Chip Van for providing food throughout the day.
Thanks to all the players and mentors or coming on Saturday and we really hope you enjoyed the day.
The next GoGames blitz takes place this this Saturday, again in Cloghan but this time its for the U8 teams.
