Minors

Last Tuesday night week we had an important home win against Tyholland. Tommy Mc Phillips started in goals and kept a clean sheet, he also made a few fingertip saves during the course of the match keeping the oppositions tally to a minimum. The full backs lined as Marty Mc Guirk and James Clerkin. In the half back line was Shane Kelly, Paddy Mc Phillips & Mark Murphy. Tyhollands biggest threat came from midfield but Darren Morgan used his power and strength to his advantage and got on the score sheet with a great point. His partner In midfield was Aaron Mc Nally was also on form. The half time the score was 1-7 to 0-3 . Good attacks by Oisin Mc Kenna and Paddy Mc Phillips proved to be fruitful with goals. Ollie Mc Clave in the half forwards gave a man of the match performance scoring some great points. Jason Kearns scored some great long range scores and acted as a sweeper. Up front Sean Grant was a handful for the Tyholland defence and along with Ryan Mc Elvaney converted some good opportunities. The home team secured a great victory 2-14 to 0-8. The subs used were James Murphy, Ole Schulte, Daniel Reilly, James Mc Kenna & Tobias Denkert. The next match is against Latton.

U12’s

Our gallant under twelves headed to Cloghan on Bank Holiday Monday to take on Castleblayney Faughs in the Spring League Final. Although the weather dished up four seasons in a few hours it didn’t deter the players and their task in hand. Patrick Treanor was first on the score sheet and hopes of an upset was briefly on the cards. However try as they might they were slowly worn down by a very talented and skilful Faughs team. We kept plugging away and got good scores but the end result was inevitable from early in the third period. This was a good learning experience for our youngsters and they can hold their heads high having gave a good account of themselves in the first final of the year. On wards and upwards as we wait on the league to begin.
