U-12’s

Lost out in the first match of Division 2 of the U-12 league to Emyvale on a scoreline of 3-6 to 1-10. The lads are doing brilliantly and we will hope to see an improvement in their fortunes as their next game will be the long trek to Magheracloone on Wednesday next the 25th of May. Best of luck to the lads in that one.

U-14’s

Play Clontibret in Clontibret this coming Saturday at 12pm. Both teams have yet to register a win in the league so far so hopefully the lads will be able to get a win under their belt for this one.

U-16’s

Lost out to Eire Og in a cracking game on a scoreline of 3-16 to 2-11 on Thursday last. Again this team is joined with Killevan and there is a lot of hard work being put in by the lads and their mentors. Hopefully the lads will be able to get a win as they face Rockorry in Rockorry this coming Thursday at 7.30pm. Bus Leaves Diamond at 6.15.

Minors

Had a tough trip to Carrickmacross on Tuesday of last week as they went down on a scoreline of 3-16 to 3-06. The lads were playing top of the table Donaghmoyne on Tuesday night so hopefully they were able to get a win.

Junior B’s

This week the B’s play Eire Og in the Quarter Final of the McKeown Cup on Saturday the 21st of May at 7pm. Clones lost out to this Eire Og side a couple of weeks ago in the league so we will be hoping to overturn that result. Best of luck to all involved.

Seniors

Last Saturday Clones unfortunately lost out to Blackhill in the Preliminary Round of the Junior Football Championship in Inniskeen. Clones started much the brighter of the two teams and at one point in the first half led by two goals courtesy of Ryan Rooney and Cian O’Connor. Blackhill however proved very resilient and clawed the deficit back with a goal of their own as half time approached. Clones went in at the break 2-06 to 1-07 in front. The second half proceeded to be one of frustration as scores were increasingly hard to come by. In saying that with 10 minutes to go Clones had got themselves into a leading position as points from Sarto Quigley, Luke Rehill and James McElwaine gave us a three point lead. Unfortunatly Blackhill struck a goal and two points at this stage to win out on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-10. There were a lot of positives to take from the game especially the performances of Ryan Rooney and Jake Rehill. There is no doubt Clones and Blackhill will have more battles before the year is out and hopefully we will come out on top then. Team and Scorers: C.Cadden, P.Connolly, J.Rehill, B.Daly, D.Holland, J, Mealiff, R.Rooney (1-00), F.Kelly (0-02), E.Audley, C.Connolly (0-01), E.McQuaid (0-02), S.Quigley (0-01), C.O’Connor (1-00), A.Alford (0-01), E.McEntee (0-01). Subs Used: J.McElwaine (0-01), L.Rehill (0-01), M.Newell.

Please make an effort to support all our teams.
