Junior Football League
Round three of the League, and Drumhowan were the visitors to Threemilehouse on Sunday afternoon last. This was to be a rough and tumble affair with no love lost between the two teams. Every score was hard fought for and the game was certainly value for money for the supporters. Although Drumhowan were a point to the good at end of the first half we had battled well, played hard and Murt Cleere had saved a penalty. The second half proved our metal and slowly the wheels turned and scores became more frequent. The referees whistle was hardly even wetted in the second period when Niall Kearns took the Seans level. From here the team grew in stature and points from Mark Keogh , James McAleer , And a brace from Adam O Driscoll pushed the momentum in the home teams favour. The Old Dog and new tricks adage could not be applied to Damien Larkin as he was up to his old tricks having been introduced as a sub with fifteen minutes remaining. Within his first three strides of entering the field of play the ball was over the bar. From here there was no return and the home team closed out the win with four points to spare , 0-12 to 0-8. A good solid performance in general and plenty to be pleased about, three wins from three games is not to be sneezed at.
We wish Martin Kieran a speedy recovery having sustained a broken ankle in the previous league game.
Minors
Our minors 2nd game was against Cremartin away last Tuesday week.
Ryan Connolly has a knee injury and was replaced in goals by Thomas Mc Phillips. Ashley Corrigan became injured and was replaced by James Clerkin. Both teams were evenly matched and the score was 1-7 to 1-6 at half time in favour of Cremartin. Each team received a penalty with Oisin Mc Kenna using his soccer skills to convert the Sean’s penalty.
Marty Mc Guirk had his hands full marking Cremartins David Hanley. Shane Kelly, Paddy Mc Phillips and Marc Murphy were solid in the half back line. Darren Morgan made life difficult for Cremartin at midfield along side Aaron Mc Nally. Sean Grant scored some great points at full forward with Ryan McElvaney. Ollie Mc Clave ran his heart out and scored 2 good points, up front Jason Kearns and Daniel Reilly performed well.
The final score was 2-14 to 1-14 for Cremartin, our lads were dispossessed a few times and Cremartin punished them by scoring.
