Parish Variety Concert

OMG….what an amazing show last Sunday night in St. Mary’s Hall. Such talent! It’s hard to put into words how awesome the night was…it was simply breath-taking. It was such a beautiful concert with amazing talent on show it was just joyful and inspiring to watch. To see so many talented and wonderful artists on stage was a delight and thank you to everyone for showing us your wonderful gifts of music, dance, storey telling & acting. It was a great night and will rank high up there among the best nights we have ever seen in St. Mary’s Hall. It would be unfair to name people or single out any individuals so a massive well done to everyone who helped to organise the event, sell tickets, do carparking etc. It just goes to prove that when you put your mind to something and get people involved anything is possible. Platinum Tanks RFL Division 2

Our under reserve footballers returned to action last Saturday 2nd April when they travelled to O’Neill Park to play Doohamlet in the Platinum Tanks reserve football league division 2 campaign. This was a highly entertaining game of football that ebbed and flowed throughout with each side enjoying spells on top. The final score-line may suggest a comfortable victory for the home side but this was far from the case as our lads, to their credit, never gave up, they never dropped their heads and battled hard to the end. The teams were evenly enough matched during the first half and Doohamlet held the advantage leading by 3-6 to 2-3 at the half-time interval. The second half continued at a frantic pace and Doohamlet took control and gradually built up a twelve point lead, leading 4-10 to 2-4. In fairness, the lads just kept at it, they just kept plugging away for each other right to the very last whistle and at times played some lovely football but sadly time ran out and Doohamlet secured the spoils on a final score Doohamlet 4-13 Rockcorry 3-4. Regardless of what the scoreboard shows I am proud of the effort and commitment shown from the team. The lads are very dedicated and there a great bunch of hearted players and I certainly can’t blame or fault their work-rate, effort or their commitment because they all battled hard and they gave it their best against a formidable, stronger and better balanced Doohamlet outfit. Their next outing in the league is on Wednesday 4th May when they host Tyholland at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and throw-in time is 7.30pm.

Congratulations “Big Chief”…

A massive congratulations to Seamus Tate who received an award under the Monaghan County Council Awards Scheme 2016. Last Monday 4th April, Seamus collected his award from Noel Keelan (Chairman Monaghan County Council) at a ceremony held in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan. As chairman of the club being able to rely on someone to do a job when you ask them is a big relief and very reassuring that the job will be done. When the dressing-rooms needs to be opened or the pitch lined out he continues to show willingness. He has been one of the most loyal, dedicated and hard-working club members I have ever known and has given a long, distinguished and dedicated service to the club. I am genuinely grateful for the support and advice he has given me and continues to give to the Club and I want to sincerely thank him for his support and help through-out the many years and congratulate him on receiving this award. Well done Seamus.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg – Under 12

The under 12 footballers played Tyholland in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg Spring Football League (Zone G) campaign last Saturday 2nd April. Due to other commitments I was not able to attend the game but I caught up with one of the team mentors, Conor Brannigan, and he stated that it was a really enjoyable and thrilling match where all players from both sides have to be commended for their efforts, their passion and their commitment in what was difficult playing conditions. The game finished Rockcorry 0-10 Tyholland 0-18. Their next game is on Saturday 16th April when they host Eire Og at Pairc Naomh Mhuire.
