Eirgrid Ulster Under-21 Football Championship Final
Monaghan 0-13 Tyrone 0-11 6/4/16
Monaghan won the Ulster Under-21 FC for the first time since 1999 with a gutsy win over Tyrone in Wednesday’s final in difficult conditions at the Athletic Grounds. Five points by Lee Brennan had Tyrone 0-7 to 0-6 up at the end of an entertaining first half, towards the end of which Monaghan lost their captain Kevin Loughran to a black card, but the winners hit five unanswered points within eight minutes of the restart. Conor McCarthy and Barry McGinn kicked some vital points for Monaghan, while Barry Kerr also got on the scoresheet and substitute Adam Treanor landed the final score as this team added U-21 silverware to their 2013 Ulster MFC success.
