Clontibret Notes

Clontibret 0-13, Monaghan Harps 0-8. A solid second half display saw off the Harps at O’Neill Park on Saturday night last. Following a slow start which saw Harps go four up, we eventually got to grips with the game and finished strong. No football this week end with the next game due to be played on Wednesday May 4th when we have Doohamlet as visitors

Minors

Clontibret 5-9, Monaghan 2-14. A good start against the Harps laid the basis for our first victory of the campaign at home on Tuesday night last. We were away to Aughnamullen on Tuesday and have a visit to Scotstown on 3rd May.

Platinum Tanks RFL

Clontibret 3-14 Latton 5-8. A last minute goal allowed Latton claim a share of the points in this fast moving encounter last Wednesday night. Next up is the O’Duffy Cup against the winners from Truagh and Aughnamullen.

Under 16

Clontibret 0-12 Emyvale 2-12. The boys had their first defeat of the campaign in Emyvale last week. Next Thursday 5th May we entertain Latton at 7.30pm.

Under 14

.Clontibret 5 – 8 Cremartin 7 – 3. We lost by 1pt in an exciting game where the boys played well and were unlucky not to win. Next game at home to Aughnamullen on 7th May at 12.00 noon.

Under 12

Two exciting games with Scotstown last Wednesday night brings us to the Spring League finals to be held in Cloghan on May Bank Holiday, Monday 2nd May. We play Tyholland at 1pm and Donaghmoyne at 2pm, so be sure to come along and support the boys in their first official finals.

Big thanks to Derrynoose GFC who came over to us last Sunday with their U8s and U10s. Great games were had by all and some brilliant tough football played by all the teams who took part. We look forward to heading over to our neighbours in the near future U10s: Our first blitz of the year takes place in Monaghan Harps ground this Saturday starting at 10am sharp. The Kube

The weekend has arrived for our Club’s fundraiser ‘The Kube’. The contestants are ready to WOW the crowd this bank holiday weekend Sunday the 1st of May in the

Hillgrove Hotel. Doors open at 7.30pm. Please arrive early to get the best seats in the house as the show starts promptly at 8.15pm. A raffle will also take place on the night with the main prize being a night’s stay in celebrity chefs, Neven Maguire’s, award winning MacNean House and Restaurant with an evening meal and breakfast included. All our other great raffle prizes are up on our Clontibret O’Neill’s Facebook page. There will also be music after the event to keep you entertained into the wee hours of the morning so you can celebrate the night away with the lucky winner. Tickets can still be purchased from our contestants or committee members. If you have been unlucky not been able to purchase a ticket, cash will be taken on the night at the door. Remember there will be only a €5 charge for U16’s on the night. Hope to see you all there, ready to cheer on the contestants who have been brave enough to take on ‘THE KUBE’

Monaghan County Council Achievement Awards

Congrats to Philomena Gormley who was the recipient of an Achievement Award at an impressive presentation ceremony by Monaghan County Council in The Four Seasons Hotel recently. Philomena, who was one of 26 award winners for achievement in sport, community and voluntary service, was nominated by the club in recognition for her work in managing and maintaining our jersey stock over the past 15 years. Well done Philomena, much deserved.

La na gClub

Sunday 8th May has been designated by the GAA as La nag Club and a Fun Day programme of events will take place at O’Neill Park to mark the occasion.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the Clarke family, on the death of the late Frank Clarke, and to the Mooney family on the death of the late John Mooney. Ar dheis De go raibh a ainmeacha.
