Under 12’s
Well done to our U-12s who have won three out of three in their Spring League. The lads dug deep to edge out a strong Truagh team by a point on Friday night. The lads had a great weekend as they also made their confirmation on Saturday. Well Done Lads.
U-14’s
Play Drumhowan at 2pm on Saturday the 23rd in the third round of the Gerrys Prepared Fruit and Veg Under 14 League Division 3. Best of Luck to the lads! Let’s hope they can get their first win under their belt. Please Support.
U-16’s
The Under 16 who are joined this year with Killevan had a good win over Scotstown in St Tiernachs Park in the 1st round of the Under 16 League. Team: Dwaine Reavey, Regan Graham, Simon O’Connell, Conal Smith, Aiden Doherty, Evan Quigley, Kevin Coogan, Rian Kierans, Reece Kierans, Jamie McQuillan, Jamie Scott. Subs Used: Enda Kilpatrick, Kevin Reilly, Shane Potter, Ben Slowey, Matthew Monaghan. Next game versus Clann na Gael is on the 28th of April. Training this Thursday at 7pm in Newbliss.
Minors
Having won their first game by a point last week the minors suffered a 1 point defeat in the second outing against a strong Emyvale team at home. A good first half team performance saw Clones lead at the break by 4pts and a goal early in the second half put the lads in a good position to take the spoils but Emyvale to their credit never gave up and finished strong to pip us at the post on a scoreline of 3-07-2-11. Credit must be given to the Lads as they battled hard all the way and will learn from some basic errors. Team and Scorers. Cian McCarney, Conor Reilly, Jack Lynch, Rian Kierans, Matthew Rehill, Matthew Newell, Sean McElwaine (0-1), Fabian Beggan (0-2), Darragh Slowey, David McCabe, Tiernan Monaghan, Daniel Connolly (1-1), Evan Mulvaney (0-2), Declan McKernan (2-1), James Cleary. Subs used Simon O’Connell, Matthew Monaghan, Henry Hipwell, Eamon Hamill. Next game is at home tomorrow Friday at 6.30 v Clann na Gael. Please Support the lads.
Seniors
Sunday last saw the visit of Aghabog to Clones in the third round of the Eurotech Junior Football League. Clones started brightly and were in control of the game but Aghabog came back into it before the break and we eventually went in a point behind at the half. A goal from Emmett McEntee put Clones in the driving seat and with 15 minutes remaining we had a strong lead. However Aghabog never gave in and equalized in the last few minutes to make it a draw game. It may not be the start to the league we were hoping for but on the positive side we have got our first point so hopefully the lads can build on this on Sunday when we visit Oram on Sunday evening at 6pm. Please Support the lads.
Please make an effort to support all our teams.
Hard Luck
To James Mealiff and the Monaghan U-21’s on an extremely difficult loss to Cork in the All Ireland U-21 Semi Final last weekend. The lads showed tremendous heart and never gave up until the final whistle. Well done to James and indeed Declan McKernan on a tremendous year. It is great to have the club represented not only on the playing field but also on the management side of things.
Also to Fabian Beggan and the Monaghan Minors who lost out narrowly to Donegal after Extra time in their League Semi Final in Clones. Another tough one to take but the lads have had a great league so hopefully this will continue on into Championship. Well Done again Lads.
U-8 & U-10’s
Will be training on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm in the Peace Link. All are welcome.
Darkness Into Light
There will be a Pre Registration Night for Pieta House’s Darkness into Light this Thursday the 21st of April from 7-9pm in the Creighton Hotel Clones. This is an excellent charity that deals with an extremely topical issue that affects us all. The walk is on Saturday the 7th of May and we encourage all Club members to get involved.
